The DOSI New Technologies for EIAs Working Group is disbanding in its current form but don’t worry, its members will take on a new form of engagement across all DOSI Working Groups.
The Working Group lead, Dhugal Lindsay and his colleagues rarely work directly at the science-policy interface, which differs somewhat from DOSI’s general mission, so after discussions between Dhugal and the DOSI Steering Committee, a new vision has emerged whereby Dhugal and colleagues will continue their work as a Technology Advisory Group.
It is envisaged that the work of this new group will be weaved through other DOSI Working Groups, with its members liaising with other Working Group leads to identify areas of collaboration. Emerging scientific knowledge and policy needs require developing new technologies to accelerate how stakeholders and policymakers perceive the deep-sea and its workings.
While we are not saying goodbye, we thank Dhugal and his Working Group members most sincerely for all the work they have carried out to date, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration under this new structure.
