DOSI Deep-Sea Round-Up

A small pycnogonid explores a bubblegum coral. There’s big news for octocorals in general this week, as one of the publications below shakes up how they’ve been classified. This week’s Deep-Sea Round-Up features new research on carbon sequestration, environmental DNA detection, and the state of Australia’s deep ocean. The Opportunities section is particularly interesting this week, as it includes a postdoc at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, a mapping position with Ocean Exploration Trust, and two important roles supporting the new Ocean Vision AI program with MBARI. Our Wanted section, meanwhile, offers a chance to nominate an ocean scientist for two different recognitions. The Round-Up concludes this week with a short clip showing off the features of Aurelia, REV Ocean’s new submersible, so make sure to take a look if you have a moment!
