DOSI Deep-Sea Round-Up
Today is World Nature Conservation Day, and what better way is there to celebrate the deep sea’s role in our world than a new Round-Up?
Today’s issue starts with a brand new video diving into why people tend to see the deep sea as creepy– and why it’s important to care about it in spite of those reasons. Then, we launch into new research on substrates, deep-ocean carbon exhaust, and shrimp reproduction at deep-sea vents. There’s also an exciting new article offering guidance for hybrid conferences, based on the experience of the 16th Deep Sea Biology Symposium last year.
The AleutBio expedition is cruising along as we speak, so our events section shares how to tune in. Then, in Opportunities, we share an opening for a postdoc with the UN Environment Programme. Finally, if you’re feeling creative, make sure to scroll to the end for a video on creating a (partly) LEGO submarine.
