This beautiful, actively venting carbonate structure resembling a snow-covered Christmas tree is about 3 feet high. It is perched precariously on the near-vertical side of the 200-ft-tall Poseidon tower. Image (without lights) courtesy of IFE, URI-IAO, UW, Lost city science party, and NOAA.
In this supplementary festive edition of the Deep-Sea Round-Up we look back at DOSI’s highlights and achievements over the past 12 months. We also take this opportunity to appreciate everyone who has supported our activities, remembering that all your generous contributions are voluntary and in addition to your day jobs. We could not do this without you – THANK YOU!
From the DOSI Office, we wish you all a restful end-of-year break and look forward to working with you once more in the New Year. The regular Deep-Sea Round-Up of the latest research and news will return on 4 January 2024. Season’s greetings and best wishes to all, Maria, Brandon, Chris and Bernadette DOSI Office
