DOSI Deep-Sea Round-Up

This Cirrothauma cf. magna, otherwise known as a Big-eye Jelly Head, was spotted pulsing across the seafloor at 4800 meters during an expedition conducted by Minderoo-UWA Deep-Sea Research Centre, Inkfish, the University of Western Australia, and The Minderoo Foundation. Research was led by Professor Alan Jamieson. A video of the remarkable encounter is available on Instagram. Image courtesy of Minderoo-UWA Deep-Sea Research Centre. More deep-sea photos shared through DOSI can be found on our Flickr page. You can share your own amazing images through the Round-Up here.
This week’s Round-Up has it all: research on seafloor observation tools, a PhD opportunity at the University of Southampton, and a big-eye jelly head!
