Welcome back! Now that DOSI has returned from the UN Ocean Conference, the Deep-Sea Round-Up is back to its weekly release schedule. We have some updates on the conference in this issue and will release the video of our panel side event soon, so please stay tuned.
In the meantime, there’s a dizzying array of new research and news to cover from the past three weeks. Today’s issue starts with papers on the importance of sponges, the value of deep learning in the deep sea, and our new policy brief, “What Does the Deep Ocean Do For You?” We’re also featuring two new webinars on important ocean policy issues from IUCN, one of which was co-hosted by DOSI.
