DOSI Deep-Sea Round-Up
This week’s Round-Up includes several events taking place today! Nautilus Live is co-hosting a webinar with National Geographic, and NOAA Ocean Exploration is running a seminar on its Cooperative Institute for Ocean Exploration, Research, and Technology. Earlier today, Ocean Discovery League also hosted its launch event for the 2022 Global Deep-Sea Capacity Assessment. You can read the results of the Assessment here.
As far as new papers go, this newsletter includes research on viral communities in the Challenger Deep, radiation of snailfishes, and deep-sea dining preferences. Today’s issue also has a couple of new features: We’ve added an “Ocean Program Corner” for updates from our friends and partners in deep-sea research, along with a new section that provides any important news from DOSI Working Groups. Finally, read to the end for a tour of Nekton’s deep-sea research vessel, RV Odyssey.
