DOSI Deep-Sea Round-Up
These beautiful paintings of deep-sea benthic foraminifera by Ranju Radhakrishnan are based on scanning electron microscope images taken during her doctoral research. They include (from L to R): Ammobaculites agglutinans from the Bay of Bengal, Ammobaculites agglutinans, Anturina haynesi and Amphicoryna sp. from the Arabian Sea. This week’s Round-Up looks at the growing and future importance of the deep ocean as a source for genetic and biochemical material for use in public and environmental health applications.
