
An owlfish documented at 1,318 m depth in the Southern Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Argentina. During the “Animals as Living Bioreactors” expedition, researchers studied various marine species participating in diel vertical migration, where organisms ascend from the depths nightly to feed, then retreat to deeper waters at dawn to avoid predators.
