DOSI Deep-Sea Round-Up
The first Deep-Sea Round-Up of 2022 is here, and we’re excited to share everything the new year has to offer! First, we’re asking our readers to tell us how we can best help you in this year and beyond through a short survey. Then it’s on to the articles published over the break, covering topics like a relict oasis of deep-sea mussels, finned octopod eggs, and sponge and coral surveys.
In deep-sea mining, we have new research on sediment plumes, research updates, and a New Yorker opinion piece penned by Elizabeth Kolbert, author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning book The Sixth Extinction. Our events and opportunities sections include brand new entries for the new year, so make sure to give them a read. We also repeat our call for submissions for Deep Sea Life issue 18.
Finally, anticipating some understandably frayed nerves at the start of the new year, we end our Round-Up with a soothing BBC video of deep-sea life to play in the background during work or rest. Enjoy!
