This week, our Deep-Sea Round-Up starts with two announcements: First, that we are now featuring video introductions to deep-ocean projects on our website, and second, that a new member has joined our Instagram team! After that, we launch into fascinating new research from the past few days, including articles on capacity-building for deep-ocean research and environmental DNA.

In our News section, make sure to read the featured story about Amelia Bridges, a University of Plymouth postdoc who works on seamount benthic community gradients. Then, in Opportunities, don’t miss a call for ship-time proposals aboard the polar icebreaker Le Commandant Charcot.

Today’s Round-Up concludes with something unusual: a prototype for an online game. Fathomnet is seeking feedback on a game meant to encourage people to help train artificial intelligence to detect ocean life in images, and they need playtester feedback! Give it a try and see how many creatures you can identify before the time runs out.
