DOSI works by assembling experts into working groups to assimilate the leading scientific research in priority areas and develop tools, strategies and resources to maintain deep-sea ecosystem integrity. Furthermore these groups work to develop programs that promote sustainability and responsible use of the deep ocean, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (e.g. SDG13 and 14).
Engagement with deep-ocean stakeholders takes place through multi-discipline workshops, policy briefings, publications, surveys, assessment contributions, online resources, social media and interventions at key meetings – especially at the United Nations.
