DOSI Deep-Sea Round-Up
Welcome to June! It’s a big month for the deep sea: World Ocean Day on the 8th is rapidly approaching, and final preparations are being made for the UN Ocean Conference at the end of the month. We’ll be covering all the action over the next few weeks, so we hope you’ll stay tuned.
As a matter of fact, this week’s Round-Up begins with the announcement that DOSI and partners will be hosting an official side event at the UN Ocean Conference. If you will be attending in person, we would love to see you there! You can learn more and register here. We’re featuring plenty of other events this week too, from the 2022 ICES Annual Science Conference to the 10th International Crustacean Conference.
That surge of events doesn’t mean that this is a slow week for research, though. Our Hot Off the Press section includes new papers on micropollutants, ocean trench life, and hydrothermal vent snails. Meanwhile, our Opportunity listings showcase a shipboard training opportunity with the Ocean Training Partnership.
Finally, an important question: Are you team cold seeps or team hydrothermal vents? Make sure to read to the end of the Round-Up for a fascinating and relaxing video on each.
