DOSI Deep-Sea Round-Up

This delightfully grumpy-looking fellow is an endemic New Zealand hermit crab, Diacanthurus rubricatus. The image was shared with us by Dr Kareen Schnabel, who, along with Dr Rachael Peart and the Crustacean Society, is announcing the 10th International Crustacean Congress to be held next year in New Zealand. Welcome to June! It’s a big month for the deep sea: World Ocean Day on the 8th is rapidly approaching, and final preparations are being made for the UN Ocean Conference at the end of the month. We’ll be covering all the action over the next few weeks, so we hope you’ll stay tuned.

As a matter of fact, this week’s Round-Up begins with the announcement that DOSI and partners will be hosting an official side event at the UN Ocean Conference. We’re featuring plenty of other events this week too, from the 2022 ICES Annual Science Conference to the 10th International Crustacean Conference.
