A Part-Time Digital Officer is required to support administrative operations of the Deep-Ocean Stewardship Initiative, advancing science-based stewardship of the deep ocean.
DOSI is looking for a Digital Officer to support its ongoing work. DOSI integrates science, technology, policy, law and economics to advise on ecosystem-based management, and on strategies to maintain the integrity of deep-ocean ecosystems. DOSI is predominantly a voluntary network.
As the Digital Officer, you will be an integral member of the DOSI Office team (currently: Executive Director, Director of Communications and Programme Officer) and have regular contact with them. The role will have a specific focus on ensuring the timely reporting of all DOSI activities via its websites and social media channels. In close liaison with the DOSI Office and DOSI Working Group leads, you will ensure that:
- The DOSI website, its Working Group pages and other web pages are clear, informative and regularly updated with the latest activities, events and opportunities.
- The DOSI Decade Working Group “Challenger 150” project website is regularly updated, in liaison with Challenger 150 leads.
- DOSI and Challenger 150 social media posts are informative, regular, and in line with DOSI guidelines.
- Regular highlight reports are produced and distributed to the DOSI network.
- You provide other administration/operation support as required.
The Digital Officer will be able to work well independently and as part of a team, in liaison with colleagues in the global DOSI network and collaborating organisations. A working knowledge of, and interest in, science and policy processes relating to deep-ocean science, management and conservation is desirable. Working at a senior level, you will be expected to use your initiative and judgement to resolve daily problems and interpret what is needed to support the programme. Strong communication (in English) and organisation skills, and attention to detail, are essential.
Experience of using WordPress, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook is essential. Please be aware you will need to be prepared to occasionally work flexible hours to accommodate meetings in different time zones.
